one bowl dirt cookies

I used to eat dirt cookies all the time in college. There was a late-night cookie delivery company that made the most decadent cookies you can imagine - peanut butter and jelly, s’mores, and dirt cookies.

A dirt cookie is a chocolate-based cookie with chocolate chips and Oreo filling, topped with chocolate pudding and even more Oreos. It’s pretty incredible. This recipe is almost as quick to make as chocolate chip cookies, comes together in just one bowl, and is incredibly delicious.

Dirt cookie ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 eggs

1 3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup crushed oreos

1 package instant chocolate pudding

milk (for pudding)

Dirt cookie directions:

Preheat your oven to 375.

Make the chocolate pudding according to the directions on the box. You want your pudding to be semi-cool before your cookies bake.

Combine your butter and sugars into a large bowl and cream together. Then, add the vanilla and each egg individually, mixing in each egg before adding the next.

Add all of your dry ingredients to the bowl and mix thoroughly.

Add your chocolate chips and Oreo crumbles to the bowl and mix one final time.

Roll your dough out into 2-3” balls. You want your cookies to be on the larger size, so that there is enough room on each of them to add the pudding.

Bake for 12 minutes, or until cooked. They will still be soft when coming out of the oven. Transfer them immediately to a cooling rack.

Once the dirt cookie is mostly cool, use a spoon to create a small indentation in the center of the cookie. Add the pudding and top with Oreo crumbles.
